About the Event

We feature a headliner who does two 10-minute sets and we guarantee a spot to everyone who wishes to share their work with us. It's anything goes; we just ask that you be respectful of our various communities and be mindful of content/triggers. Hope to see you there!

Our Feature:

Raised in Manitoba, Evan J (he/they) now lives in Sioux Lookout, Treaty 3 Territory, Ontario. Evan splits his time between hunting,  decolonizing, skiing, advocating for transgender rights, fishing, helping operate a drop-in centre for Indigenous adults experiencing homelessness and addictions, picking blueberries and fiddleheads, reading, running a program that uses contemporary technologies like 3D printing to improve the digital literacy of adults, long-distance running, and beading. He is also the author of Ripping down half the trees (MQUP, 2021), the Fiction Editor for Cloud Lake Literary journal, and a poetry workshop facilitator with Vallum's Poetry for our Future! program. He is currently writing a novel about taxes.

(I would like to thank the League of Canadian Poets and the Canada Council for the Arts)

Richard-Yves Sitoski’s activities take place in Gitche Namewikwedong/Owen Sound, on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe Nation: the People of the Three Fires, known as the Ojibway, the Odawa, and the Pottawatomie Nations. He gives thanks to the Chippewas of Saugeen and the Chippewas of Nawash, now known as the Saugeen Ojibway Nation, as the traditional keepers of this land.
